Saraha lahir dalam sebuah keluarga brahmin di Bengal sebelah timur India dan menghabiskan hidup-nya sebagai seorang pengembara berjubah putih, tanpa rumah dan bebas dari nafsu keinginan. Beliau menjadi murid seorang suci bernama Ratnamati, seorang guru besar ajaran Guhyasamâja-tantra. Saraha mempelajari rahasia mendalam dari metode meditasi yang berfokus pada pengembangan api Candâlî (tummo). Beliau berhasil merealisasi Mahâmudrâ dalam satu masa kehidupan. Mahâsiddha Saraha sangat terkenal dengan nyanyian spiritual puitisnya yang kerap dikenal dengan sebutan “Doha”.

 

Saraha was born in a Brahmin family in Bengal of east India and spent his life as a wanderer dressed in white, have no home and free from desires. He became a disciple of a Siddha named Ratnamati, a master of Guhyasamâja tantra. Saraha learn the secrets of deep meditation method that focuses on the development of inner fire Candâlî (Tummo). He was able to  realizing Mahamudra within a single lifetime. Mahasiddha Saraha known by his spontaneous sacred songs of realization often known as the “Doha”.
